Commission an Oil Portrait
It is a relatively easy and painless process having a portrait commissioned and I will be able to guide and aid at every step of the way.
I can work straight from your own photographs or I can travel to you if you would like to book a sitting where I will help develop the portrait from the start, make initial studies as well as take the photographs required. (If not local additional expenses relative to time and distance travelled will be agreed as part of the initial stages of the commission)
As each Portrait is different I find its better for both, you and I to tailor a quote specifically to the requirements of your artwork. Size and detail are the basic variables that affect the cost.
Below is a rough price guide to give you an indication based on a local commission or photograph with the
size of the subject at approx ¾ life size.

If you are on a budget I can help and advise you, a looser oil sketch may be the solution.
If you have a photo that you would like me to work from just email at its highest quality unedited to jonathan.brier@hotmail.co.uk with any accompanying requests or questions and we will take it from there. (Or for address to send traditional photograph).Most portraits can be completed within 4 to 8 weeks. I will be able to give a better idea of time scale after the details are finalised. If you require a specific completion date I will do all that I can to accommodate your request and let you know if it is reasonably achievable before the painting is started. I will work on a piece until both the client and I are satisfied at which point the final payment will be required.
Commission a Pencil Portrait
Pencil portraits from your photos are very simple to commission. Just email me a quality photo (or to request address for traditional photograph postage) with the size you would like and any questions /requests etc and I will get back to you to confirm the details and that's it. To keep it simple I charge by size and not by the number of subjects unless it is an exceptionally complex piece.
A4 - £40 Not recommended for more than two subjects
A3 - £60 Recommended minimum size for most works
A2 - £100 Recommended for good photographs, 3/4 size and multiple subjects
Enquire for larger sizes .
Smaller pencil portraits can often be completed within a week to 10 days and larger pieces will take a little longer, I will give an indication during the commission process. Your portrait will be started straight after confirmation and full payment but is fully refundable on return of the work if you are not completly satisfied. P&P is included in the price.
